  • Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-coloured materials that cover the front surface of teeth. To prepare the teeth that will receive the veneer, a small amount of enamel will be removed from your tooth surface. The veneer that has been especially crafted for you will then be bonded to your tooth, transforming your smile.

  • Veneers don’t need extra-effort maintenance. They can be cared for much like your natural teeth, with regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups. However, it’s wise to be mindful of avoiding biting on hard objects to prevent chipping, and to wear a nightguard if you grind your teeth.

  • The veneer fitting procedure takes place over 2 to 3 visits, over the course of a few weeks. At the first appointment, the dentist will remove a thin layer of enamel and take impressions. These moulds are then sent to a lab where your custom veneers are crafted. This process usually takes 1-2 weeks. In the meantime, you might wear temporary veneers. At your final visit, the dentist will carefully bond the permanent veneers to your teeth. The bonding process can take up to 2 hours.

  • Veneers can survive in one piece for up to 20 years, with careful maintenance and regular check-ups.

  • You might need a veneer if you have a chipped or broken tooth, severe discolouration that doesn’t respond to whitening, gaps between your teeth (that can be masked with a veneer) or misshapen or slightly crooked teeth.
