Your next stage would be a Comprehensive Examination with one of our Invisalign dentists, who will examine you and develop a computer model of your treatment. Together with your Dentist you can review and agree on your treatment before we make a series of aligners that will fit only you.

Meet Dr. Andy Toy

Andy is a General Practitioner with over 40 years’ experience of all forms of orthodontics.  He started using the Invisalign system in 2007, becoming a Platinum Elite Provider and has since completed over 1000 cases.  He should have retired years ago, but the improvements Invisalign can make to his patients’ health and well-being means he just wants to carry on!

Most of Andy’s time is spent as a dental educator and mentor.  He became a Speaker for Invisalign in 2010 and has since taught many thousands of dentists from all over the world how to make the most of this incredible system.  He is currently studying for a Doctorate in Education at Nottingham University.

Andy heralds from the Welsh Valleys and pursues his love of rugby as a season ticket holder at Leicester Tigers.  He also loves the mountains, of course, and knows nothing better than walking the fells with his black lab, Jimmy.

  • Invisalign treatment is specific for each patient, but we’re able to give you a really good idea before you finally commit yourself to treatment. It can be as short as 3 months, and it can be as long as 18 months. Most of our patients find their treatments last about 12 months. Invisalign treatment used to take a long time, but Dr Toy was involved with research which enabled him to halve the time to put Invisalign in.

  • The worst feeling you’ll get is like a really good scale and polish, where you get some vibration and a lot of water. At any time, you can put your hand up and your dentist will stop straightaway. No injections are required throughout the whole Invisalign process. Once the aligners are fitted, the worst feeling you’ll get is some slight discomfort.

  • Many people actually find they prefer to wear the aligners, although at the start it may be difficult to try them on. Your teeth may be in slight discomfort when they move, but because they’re protected by the aligners, it’s not something that will bother you on a daily basis. Invisalign are better than fixed braces in this regard, because fixed braces can be very painful. Fixed braces can rub your lips and cheeks, and they certainly hurt your teeth when the practitioner tightens up those wires.
